This 34,900 acre lake was constructed in 1934 and has around 800+ miles of shoreline. Approximately 75-80% of Norris Lake shoreline is owned by the TN Valley Authority (TVA) Wildlife Management Areas, state and city parks, municipalities and marinas.
Norris Lake is the second largest and the deepest lake in the TVA chain. Because there is no industry or pollution on the lake, it is the cleanest of all the TVA lakes! There is usually visibility to 20-25 feet. Two rivers, the Clinch and the Powell, feed Norris Lake. The main channel (deepest part of the lake) runs directly in front of property at Lone Mountain S hores, Norris Shores, The Highlands, The Peninsula, Deerfield, Hiwassee, and other communities. Many more communities are on coves. Located in the Tennessee counties of Anderson, Campbell, Union, Claiborne, and Grainger, Norris Lake has the largest flood control storage capacity of any lake on a tributary of the Tennessee River.
FISHING: Stripers (Large and Small Mouth Bass – hybrid, do not reproduce). Trophy size 18-20 lbs. Record Norris Lake catches are 50-60 lbs.
