Norris Lake March 27, 2009

All the harbingers of spring are finally here!  The Bradford pears are in full and glorious bloom.  Early daffodils have already gone by, but plenty of mid and late season daffodils are still blooming, the wood hyacinths are up and the redbuds are just starting to brighten up the landscape.  Norris Lake levels drop during the winter months to provide room for snow melt and spring runoff from states to our north and the water levels have been steadily rising for the last few weeks.  While we were at 996 ft above sea level this past winter, we are now up to 1008.5 ft - just 11.5 ft more to full summer pool.

The water is still a little nippy for a swim, but I see many a stalwart fisherperson out in boats or fishing off the ferry and banks - even on dreary, rainy days. And we have had a week of rainy days - which we really need

While we are not seeing the collapse of real estate markets to the degree experienced in parts of FL, MI, OH and other states, real estate prices are dropping on some lakefront and lakeview lots and homes - as well as homes in the surrounding towns and communities - in preparation of summer sales.

This is the best time to come look at Norris Lake properties.  The leaves are still off the trees and it is easier to walk the properties without trying to get through the underbrush.
